Isotrope Design
September 8th, 2010
California-based Isotrope Design is run by sisters Micol and Sael Bartolucci, whose fascination for landscapes and topography has been an unmistakable influence on their work.
When I first opened their website, I actually jumped up from my seat a little.

Isometric Table
Kalon Studios introduces its new Isometric Table, a study in reduction and opposition that explores the intersection of two-dimensional planes flowing together to create three-dimensional form.

Extensions
Aissa Logero’s Extensions project is put together by notches and string.
This project questions contemporary furniture design, from the concept of multipurpose use and uncertain quality (due to rationalized industrial production), to the ambition or desire for durability.
Products are envisaged in a non-fixed state, to be extended or lengthened, according to uses which vary and evolve over time. Starting with assembly and a concern for eco-design, I rethought the idea of furniture in kit form, taking into account packaging, transportation, storage, mounting and dismantling by the user.

Shavings
Yoav Avinoam’s graduation project is Shavings — furniture created from sawdust.
By using sawdust waste from the Wood industry, as a response to the way we look at our usage and exploitation of materials in modern culture. The sawdust (taken from different kinds of woods) is being pressed with resin into a mold that already contains all of the object parts, the opportunity was exploring new ways of integration between the legs of the furniture and the sawdust through expansion of the joints, this and the way the sawdust crumbles toward the edges creates a new material esthetics to once destined to be waste material.

Yoav also gives us a little “Deconstruction” with some process photos, after the jump.
